Imagine a tortilla, not completely round, some deformations along the edges and maybe some burned marks that aren’t evenly divided. Well, those are the ones that look like they have been made by hand.
This though, is not what the high-volume food industry is looking for. Unity in products and recognizable. That is what they are looking for and that is what the GDO Tortilla inspection system offers.
The inspection is an add-on system for existing continuous production lines. Specifically developed for both corn and flower tortillas, but also applicable in other continuous production lines. The width of the system will be configured to the conveyer width of the existing line, with a maximum of 60 inches.
Three matrix cameras generate a stitched image of the whole conveyer width and use this image to determine the roundness, size and quality of the tortillas. Quality is checked in terms of damaged edges, holes, or unevenly distributed burned marks. Even Burned marks that are too large, can be rejected by the system.
After evaluation of the images, which is done within milliseconds, the system is able to reject tortillas. Eight to sixteen air nozzles can be configured to your production line and are triggered by the camera software when a tortilla needs to be rejected.
